A Graduate Research Assistant (GRA), Research Assistant (RA), or Research Administrative Assistant (RA-P) is an individual appointed by Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) on a contract basis to assist with research-related tasks and is paid a monthly allowance according to the approved allocation, based on the Guidelines and Conditions set by the funding agency.

RA/RA-P is an individual appointed under a research grant and their allowance is paid using the research grant allocation or PTj trust fund. The duties and responsibilities of the RA/RA-P must be supervised by the Project Leader or Head of PTj.
The Project Leader is an individual responsible for monitoring the work performance of the appointed GRA/RA using the approved allocation.
